Who Actually Supplies Wyomissing’s Water
Wyomissing is one of the few Berks County towns split between two water providers, and knowing which one serves your address actually matters for diagnosing water issues correctly:
- Most of Wyomissing Borough gets its drinking water from the Western Berks Water Authority (WBW), which has supplied the borough, West Reading, and Shillington since 1974.
- The Wyomissing Hills section of the borough (the area merged into Wyomissing in 2002) is served separately by Pennsylvania American Water.
- Sewer service for the borough runs through the Joint Municipal Authority of Wyomissing Valley (JMAWV), which also serves West Reading, Shillington, Mohnton, Spring Township, and Cumru Township.
Two houses a few streets apart in Wyomissing can technically be on different water systems. We ask which utility serves your address before recommending equipment, since the right fix depends on it.
Recent Wyomissing-Area Project: From a Failing 20-Year-Old Softener to Whole-Home Water Quality
This homeowner had just purchased their house and inherited a water softener that was roughly 20 years old, no longer working properly and undersized for the home’s actual water demand. Their goal was straightforward: better water throughout the whole house, including soft water and less chlorine taste and odor.
What We Did
Our team removed the outdated unit from the laundry room and relocated the water treatment equipment to the homeowner’s heated garage. We installed a properly sized water softener along with a whole-house filtration system built to reduce chlorine and other chemicals. Moving the equipment also freed up laundry room space and put the salt tank just a few feet from where bags get unloaded- no more hauling 40-pound bags through the house.
The Results
| Water Quality Factor | Before | Immediately After |
| Water hardness | 14 GPG (extremely hard) | 0 GPG (soft) |
| Chlorine | Strong taste and odor | Gone |
The homeowner noticed the difference right away: better-feeling, better-tasting water, plus protection for their new appliances, fixtures, and plumbing from ongoing hard-water damage. This is one of 30+ jobs we’ve completed for Wyomissing-area homeowners.

“HQ Water Solutions was awesome installing my water softener and RO water filter. The sales person, Stephen, was honest, not pushy and didn’t try to upsell anything. Installer, Pat, was on time and installation was smooth. Pat was very helpful with explanations and professional. Cost exactly what was quoted. Great experience.”

Licensed and Registered to Work in Wyomissing
Pennsylvania doesn’t issue a statewide plumbing or contractor license, but water treatment companies performing work in private residences, like the softener and filtration installs we do, are required to register with the state as Home Improvement Contractors. HQ Water Solutions maintains that registration, and while we don’t have a dedicated Berks County Chamber affiliation, we’re a proud member of the Lancaster Chamber, which has backed our work across the region.
